About Us
In 2004, husband and wife team, award-winning filmmakers Brad and Josephina Sykes, joined forces to pursue their dream of making movies together and created NIGHTFALL PICTURES .
Based in Los Angeles, NIGHTFALL PICTURES has become an established independent film production company and one of the leading forces in the horror and fantasy genres.

Brad Sykes
Writer/Director
Brad Sykes is an award-winning filmmaker and author based in Los Angeles. Brad attended Boston University’s film program, graduating cum laude. After moving to Los Angeles and working in studio production and development, Sykes made his feature debut with the horror comedy SCREAM QUEEN, starring genre icon Linnea Quigley that got released in 2023 in a Special Edition Blu-Ray by Visual Vengeance.

Sykes has since written and directed over twenty feature films, including the first digital 3D horror movie, CAMP BLOOD. CAMP BLOOD was a worldwide success and has become one of the longest running franchises in indie horror, with its first two sequels (CAMP BLOOD 2 and WITHIN THE WOODS aka CAMP BLOOD 3) also written and directed by Sykes.
Sykes’ film DEATH FACTORY became its distributor's all-time top-grossing title and later sequelized. Sykes' other writing-directing credits include GOTH, MAD JACK, DEMON'S KISS, PLAGUERS(winner Best Screenplay at the 2008 Estepona Film Festival and Best Actor Steve Railsback at 2008 Shockerfest) and HI-8: HORROR INDEPENDENT EIGHT, an award-winning horror anthology called “The Expendables of SOV Horror” by HorrorHound. Sykes also co-executive produced BURYING THE EX, directed by Joe Dante, starring Anton Yelchin and Alexandra Daddario.

Sykes’ films continue to stream on cable and VOD and enjoy releases on DVD and Blu Ray around the world. They have been covered by: Entertainment Weekly, The Hollywood Reporter, The Dark Side, Sight and Sound, Gorezone and LA Weekly and books such as Jumpstart Your Awesome Film Production Company, The Mammoth Book of Slasher Movies, Horror!: The Definitive Companion to the Most Terrifying Movies Ever Made, and Horror Films by Subgenre. Sykes has taught film production at the International School of Motion Pictures and has also penned articles for periodicals including Fangoria, Indie Slate and Midnight.

Recently, Sykes co-executive produced and co-directed the HI-8 sequels HI-DEATH, HI-FEAR and published two books Terror in the Desert: Dark Cinema of the American Southwest (McFarland and Co.) and Neon Nightmares - LA Thrillers of the 1980s (BearManor Media).
Josephina Sykes
Writer/Producer
Josephina Sykes is a Writer/Producer from Romania, where she graduated the National University of Theater and Film with a major in screenwriting, followed by a scholarship at prestigious LaFemis Film School in Paris, France. Josephina started her film career by working in production for Romania's two largest film studios.
She relocated to Los Angeles in 2001 and has continued to work as a screenwriter and in production on many indie features.
In 2004, she founded Nightfall Pictures, a full-service development and production company, with her husband, writer/director Brad Sykes. She decided to take a chance and use her hands-on set experience to dive into full time producing.
Since then, Josephina has produced several feature films, including thriller WITHIN THE WOODS, drama COLD ONES (starring C. Thomas Howell), actioner MUTATION (debut of Katie Featherston) and the award-winning sci-fi/horror film PLAGUERS (starring Steve Railsback).
Her work has been profiled in many publications: The Hollywood Reporter, Entertainment Weekly, Backstage West, Fangoria, Indie Slate, HorrorHound and Gorezone.
Josephina is one of the co-creators and executive producers of the award-winning horror anthology HI-8: HORROR INDEPENDENT EIGHT that was selected in the official competition of over twenty film festivals around the world. HI-8 received the Contribution to Horror Genre Filmmaker Award at Horror Hour Film Festival, Los Angeles, CA.
Alongside her partner Brad Sykes, Josephina created HI-DEATH, the sequel to HI-8. After making the indie horror festival circuit, HI-DEATH was released worldwide by Wild Eye Releasing.
In 2023, HI-FEAR, the 3rd installment of Nightfall's horror anthologies was released in USA on DVD and worldwide on digital after playing film festivals. HI-FEAR is streaming on many platforms: Amazon, Apple, Tubi, Google Play, Vudu, You Tube and so on !
